How to distinguish construction methods and write clearer purchase specifications for wholesale scarf orders.
Construction is not the same as fibre
Woven and knitted describe how yarns are formed into fabric. Cotton, wool, acrylic and blended fibres can be used in different constructions, so a product should not be labelled by fibre based on appearance alone.
What buyers usually notice
Woven scarves commonly show a structured warp-and-weft surface and can support checks, stripes and shuttle-weave effects. Knitted scarves are formed from interlocking loops and may provide more stretch. Actual drape, warmth and softness still depend on yarn, density, finish and dimensions.

- Request fibre test information when composition matters
- Compare finished weight and dimensions, not photos alone
- Approve colour, hand feel and edge finish on a physical sample
Avoid category errors in a product catalogue
A triangular shape is a silhouette, not proof of a knitted construction. A fuzzy surface is a finish or hand-feel description, not proof of fleece or a particular fibre. Accurate naming protects both search visibility and buyer trust.
A useful comparison request
Ask the supplier for two development options using the same target size and colour direction, then compare structure, hand feel, weight, lead time and price. Record the chosen option in the approved specification before bulk production.
